I didn't pull a loop the loop but started harvesting, a little early perhaps, my Red Baron onions when rain was forecast and I wouldn't get to the allotment for over a week.
They did best on the unmanured bed, a lesson for next year, and I always found them good keepers lasting through until May some years.
They're great with stir fried kale, preferably the black sorts like Nero di Toscana adding a sweetness to the peppery taste of the kale and brightening the dish.
Not bad also for making a sweet onion relish if you have enough to spare.
