« Front Garden Finds | Main | There's Red Baron on the allotment »

I don't have any suggestions for adding color to the front border. But, I wanted to say how much fun I think it would be to tend gardens that have a history like these monastery gardens!

It's privelege to give something back - and great fun too!

I'm not a gardner, but this post reminded me of two things, a quote from a novel set in Botswana: "That was the trouble with living in a dry country. Everything, whether human or pumpkin, was on such a small margin."
And it reminded me of how, when I was living in Africa, during the dry season, any remnant of green or flower color moved me deeply--it was like I was thirsty for color. I remember the shock when I saw a hibiscus in bloom in front of someone's mud home--the only color, it seemed, anywhere I looked.
