The first killing frost hit the allotment on Friday last, knocking back the dahlias and the asparagus. The euphorbia here got a touch too.
It ushered in the first log fire of the winter season voted by the dogs as the best thing a cold day can bring.
And for the first time in months I've had to wear gloves while bicycling around.
I don't have a dog but sometimes I think I should get one. Especially at this time of year. I could take it for long walks over misty ploughed fields, and come back to a roaring fire like the one in your photo.
