I love it when England are playing in the World Cup. The Tube is empty and the roads are quiet. Rush hour is like something from the 1950s I guess. No jams, no parking problems, just don't try getting a taxi. Even the aircraft flying into Heathrow over my house seem to stop.
It's wonderful to be in the garden around kick-off time when a stillness descends giving this busy part of south London the air of a country Sunday.
I wonder would a cardboard cut-out of Rooney make a good scarecrow?
